Adavi Kachina Vennela Movie Review

Experiment gone wrong

Adavi Kachina Vennela is the case of an experimental film going wrong. The film leaves you feeling of missing something and desires something more. Unless you were told that the director is a newcomer, you’d not find on your own. Debutante Akki Viswanadh Reddy did a fair job. His writing is fresh and he tries to explore new dimensions. But the problem with the film is writer-director Viswanadh squanders all his talent. He has put all his eggs in one basket- Adavi Kachina Vennela. Had he shaped this well, the film would have meet a different fate.

Set in the milieu of Rayalaseema, where all the characters speak chaste Seema jargon, Adavi Kachina Vennela is all about a guy (Arvind Krishna) who has extraordinary talent to detect metals under the ground and he is in the quest of an ancient superpower which could prevent the death. He digs the lands he comes across for it and leaves family to the last. His wife (Pooja Ramachandran) and his father leaves the town. Surprisingly, these things have no affect on Arvind who is focused on his goal to find the power. In between, he meets another lady Vennela (Meenakshi Dixit), a professional shooter. Will Arvind able to trace the super power? What are the hurdles ahead? Could he overcome?

Viswanadh recruits good cast who fits the bill aptly. The one best thing in the film is that even sidekicks in the film did their part well. And the only exception is protagonist Arvind krishna who misses the bull’s eye. One is unfathomable whether it’s deliberate attempt by makers to act Arvind so or so the actor can’t emote beyond well. Yet the other cast carried off the film. Kudos to Viswanadh for his casting and bringing acting talent out of them. The passion of the filmmaker is visibly seen on screen as he hasn’t compromised at any point. The music is soothing and the background score elevates the scenes. Sirivennela Sitaramasatri’s lyrics come in handy and worked well. There are few comedy scenes involving ’30-years’ Prudhviraj and others which tickle your funny bone.

Like any other filmmaker, Viswanadh fails to meet the challenges that come while unfolding the story. The latter half of the film falls flat. The CGI works could have been better. Especially, the climax portion is a mere disappointment. How could Arvind lose Sudharma which he has found after years of searching? On whole, Adavi Kachina Vennela is a decent attempt considering that director is newcomer. Yet it could have been made well.
