Firebrand YSR Congress party MLA from Nagari assembly constituency in Chittoor district R K Roja finally met her party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at the Tadepalli camp office on Tuesday evening.

Roja appeared all smiling before the camera as she posed with Jagan, but it is not known what assurance Jagan had given to her. But going by her facial expressions, it looks like the boss had promised her a plum post.

However, before meeting Jagan, Roja was looking very tense as she spoke to media in Vijayawada. She said the media had predicted that she would get a cabinet berth and even given her portfolio.

“I could not get the ministry due to caste equations. Jagan has tried to balance various castes in the cabinet and do social justice. But, the fact is that I was never associated with my Reddy community after marriage. I am married to a BC. And all my friends, relatives and associates including my PA belong to different castes,” she said.

One wonders whether one’s caste would change if one marries a person of other caste. In case of Roja, the YSRC chief must have got a different reason for denying the cabinet berth.

“She is a fighter no doubt, but at the same time, she also has a loose tongue and that landed her and also the party in troubles in the past. May that is one of the reasons why Jagan did not consider her name for the cabinet,” a party source said.

But, her loyalty to the party will definitely be recognized and it is only a matter of time that Roja will get a prominent post in the government.
