With less than 10 days to go for the poll results, the tide of Indian politics is flowing in multiple directions. In a high-stakes game, both BJP and anti-BJP groups have involved in a serious business to weave an appropriate team ahead of results. But, the differences between two Telugu Chief Ministers (KCR and Nara Chandrababu Naidu) is catching everyone’s attention.
KCR, who began to extensively concentrate on national politics from last year, was one of the first politicians to speak about anti-BJP, anti-Congress government at the Centre, and referred it as ‘Federal Front’ – which is highly uncertain now. As part of ‘Federal Front’ plan, he reached out to some of the major regional party heads in the nation – West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik. Freshly, after the polls, he knocked the doors of Kerala CM Vijayan and DMK Chief Stalin.
Having taken a keen observation at poll trends, KCR seems to be leaning towards Congress by meetings its allies. But, there’s a catch here. Most of the leaders, who KCR reached out to, are in good equation with AP CM Chandrababu Naidu and they reiterated their loyalties to him even after meeting KCR.
Going back to December 2018, a day after KCR met Naveen Patnaik in Bhubaneshwar, he sent an official letter to Naidu with his party MP Soumya Ranjan Patnaik. The letter carried a clear support to Naidu and to the anti-BJP government in Delhi. Later, Mamata Banerjee too casted off KCR’s invitation for the ‘Federal Front’. In fact, she was never gravitated to KCR’s call. They always were suspecting that KCR’s efforts for Federal Front were only to rescue Narendra Modi and bring him back to power. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was successful in establishing his pitch and made right moves to isolate the efforts of KCR.
Now, in less than 24 hours after his meeting with KCR, DMK chief Stalin too made his party senior Durai Murugan to drop at Naidu’s office in Amaravati on Tuesday. Political reports are indicating that Murugan summarized the KCR-Stalin meeting details to Babu. Stalin, reportedly, turned down KCR’s request to take a stand against both Congress and BJP. In fact, the DMK chief was never ready to drop out of UPA.
