The family of M Akbar Basha, who recently came to light in the Telugu states with a selfie video, committed suicide in Chagalamarri. The Akbar Basha couple, along with their two daughters, consumed pesticide, and the locals rushed the four to a hospital in Chagalamarri. Sub Inspector Maruti said the family members were later shifted to Proddutur government hospital for better treatment.

For the past few days, the Akbar Basha family has been fighting for justice in a land dispute in Erraballi. In the process, they took a selfie video urging for justice. It went viral on social media.

The CM’s office and Kadapa SP responded to this video. Everyone thought the issue would be ended as the CM’s office itself responded to this. However, the family attempted suicide on Monday.

Chagalamarri and Duvvur police, on the other hand, were alerted when they came to know that Akbar Basha’s family suicide attempt. Kadapa SP KKN Anburajan said the police went to the hospital and there is no danger to Akbar Basha’s family.

Anburajan said that the Maidukuru court had ruled in favour of Akbar Basha’s aunt Kasim Bee in a land dispute in 2018 itself. He pointed out that no one had gone to the High court over the Maidukuru court verdict. If there were any objections, it should be taken up in the Revenue Court. The SP said it was not right for the police to interfere in civil matters.
