Amidst brewing controversy over the setting up of new capital, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu made it clear that “permanent” capital is not yet fixed. Briefing top leaders on Seven Missions to develop AP at NTR Trust Bhavan, Naidu made this statement on Thursday. However, Naidu said that he is chalking out a plan to develop all regions uniformly and simultaneously.
This statement comes close on the heels of surfacing differences between two top ministers P. Narayana and KE Krishna Murthy. While Urban Development minister Narayana is maintaining that Vijayawada will be declared as capital, Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishna Murthy wants Kurnool to be named as capital city. Several other leaders from Rayalaseema are expressing their concerns against Vijayawada as capital. Meanwhile, 5-member Sivaramakrishnan Committee, constituted by Union Government over Capital, is going to submit its final report on August 27.
