Centre not happy with AP with diversion of funds!!

The actions of the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy led Andhra Pradesh government for not providing its share of funds towards the National Health Mission (NHM) did not go well with the Union government and the Centre is not at all happy with the state government’s decision. The issue reached the Centre after a few suppliers have reached out to them reportedly.

As per the media reports, the Union government has released its share of funds in the National Health Mission (NHM), which is sixty percent. The remaining share lies with the state government and it has to be released by the government towards the Mission. Even months after the Centre sent its share, the Andhra Pradesh government did not make any contributions.

The suppliers who waited for months hoping that the AP government are said to have reached the Centre and requested the Union Health Ministry to look into their plight. It is said that the Health Ministry was not happy with Andhra Pradesh and asked the state Health Ministry to send a submit on the government’s Utilisation Certificates.

On the other hand, there are reports of diversions of the funds sent by the Union government towards the National Health Mission (NHM) by the Andhra Pradesh government. The union government had sent its share of more than600 crores towards the Mission and the AP govt reportedly used the funds.

For the unversed, the National Health Mission is a collaboration of the Union government and respective state governments with a fund sharing of 60 and 40 to have a decentralised health delivery system and focus on areas like water, sanitisation, and gender equality.
