Firebrand politician Anam Vivekananda Reddy passes away

Senior politician from Nellore Anam Vivekananda Reddy passed away after a prolonged battle with lungs-related ailments at a private hospital in Secunderabad this morning. Anam was 67. He is survived by his wife Himavathi and two sons Anam Chenchu Subba Reddy and Anam Ranga Mayur Reddy.

Anam began his political career with the Congress party. He was elected to the AP Assembly thrice. After the defeat in the 2014 general elections, Anam, along with his brother Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, had quit Congress and joined the TDP in 2016. Anam’s sons are carrying his political legacy.

Anam was one of the most flamboyant and firebrand politicians in Telugu politics. He was popular for his style statements and audacious statements. Several TDP and opposition party leaders expressed their grief over Anam’s passing away. TDP chief and AP CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu had paid a visit to Anam recently when he was undergoing treatment.
