Comedian Sunil took Tollywood by storm with his impeccable comedy timing in the early 2000s. His perfect dialogue delivery in the Godavari accent and his acting brought the house down every time he appeared on screen. He was the busiest comedian for a good 7-8 years before becoming a hero with ‘Andala Ramudu’. This film was a good hit but Sunil continued to do comedy roles till Rajamouli came up with the offer of ‘Maryada Ramanna’.

This movie turned him into a hero with decent market value and he decided to stop taking up comedy roles. He became a full-fledged hero and even got a six-pack body. But his success as hero was short-lived. He did many films as the main lead but they ended up being unsuccessful which damaged his market. People missed him as the comedian and Sunil wasn’t successful as the hero which put him in a tight spot.

After a while, he stopped taking up hero roles and returned to comedy. But it wasn’t a smooth comeback for him as many claimed that he lost his comedy touch and failed to generate enough comedy. He struggled a lot and even tried his hand in doing negative roles in movies like ‘Colour Photo’ and ‘Disco Raja’. Many thought that his career is on the verge of fading away but it seems like he is returning back to form lately.

He is slowly into the favourite actor for many directors. With veterans like Brahmanandam and Ali slowing down and junior comedians not reaching the expectations of filmmakers, actors like Sunil and Vennela Kishore are proving to be the best options. Since Sunil is a senior who has a great rapport with most of the actors and filmmakers, they are showing interest in giving him good roles. Apparently, director Anil Ravipudi has taken him in ‘F3’ and will be offering him roles in his upcoming movies too. Also, he will be seen in a good role in Allu Arjun’s upcoming flick ‘Pushpa’. As we know, Sunil will be given good roles in most of Trivikram’s films. Seems like Sunil is slowly finding back his groove in Tollywood.
