Story:

Ramakrishna (Kalyan Ram) is a football player who loves his family very much. He likes his younger sister Haritha (Saranya Mohan) to an extent that he does anything for her. Haritha has a knack off pulling the wrong button always. She never makes right choices and gets into trouble and Ramakrishna comes to her rescue at every instance. She also makes wrong choice in choosing her life partner (Shyam). He is a factionist Muthyam’s (Kota Srinivasa Rao) son and marries Haritha to take revenge upon her. Haritha slaps him when he tries to woo her and in turn he marries her to teach her a lesson. Ramakrishna comes to know about this and goes with his sister to her in-laws place to set the things right for her. What happens next sums up the story.

Analysis:
This is a usual brother and sister saga in a different setup. Story writer Vamsi tried to interweave age old sister sentiment formula and faction concept. Hence, there is ample chance for action as well as sentiment. However, the director failed to bring this on to the screen in a convincing way. Kathi movie starts off with a bang and cuts into the flashback of the protagonist.

Kathi heads in predictable lines with a tinge of entertainment mixed with little dose of family drama. It is Okay until the first half hour. As the story heads towards the main plot director went out of gas and started to make things look clumsy and unappealing. Saranya Mohan who seeks her brother’s help for anything elopes with her boyfriend all of a sudden and it isn’t given a reasonable answer. None of the family members except Kalyan Ram feel the pain or responsibility when Saranya goes missing. Instead they advice Kalyan Ram to move on with his own life and ask him to forget about his missing sister. Utterly unconvincing!!

When Kalyan Ram knows about the problems of his sister he takes the easy path by joining the gang of goons. He doesn’t revolt immediately and tries to find a solution in a simpler way. And by doing so the justice isn’t done to either the title or hero characterization. He simply walks around by playing pranks at Brahmanandam and Dharmavarapu when his sister is facing hell like problems in that house.

Director opted to fill in entertainment by heading in the way that is shown by films like Dhee and Ready. But it didn’t suit this film as the plot is pretty serious one. The reasons shown for Shyam falling in love with Saranya Mohan are silly. The film directly goes to climax out of nowhere. When the director thought of ending this film in such a way he should’ve done that much earlier without testing the patience of audience.

Plus Points:

– Few action episodes might satisfy the mass audience.
– Kalyanram fooling Kota as “Naa Daivam” is hilarious.

Minus points:

– Beaten to the death storyline
– Screenplay
– Direction

Bottom Line : Watch it once
