Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao has taken a back step over his demand for Metro Rail project going underground to avoid the heritage structures. L&T, the construction company of this project was able to convince the Chief Minister that underground option is not at all feasible in the city. They have assured him that they will make a realignment plan to avoid heritage structures.

They also made it clear to the Chief Minister that this realignment plan will require more properties to be demolished and at the same time will cost 4000 Crore extra. The company is ready to take up this new plan provided the government bears the extra cost. The officials have works near the Legislative Assembly and Mozzam Jahi Market for now. Sources say the project will be diverted towards Kacheguda or Ramkoti to avoid Sultan Bazaar and Badichowdi.
