There appears to be more to the recent statement of former Union minister and Bharatiya Janata Party MP Y S Chowdary alias Sujana Chowdary that several leaders, including MPs from Andhra are in touch with him than what meets the eye.

Sources from New Delhi said the Rajya Sabha member has been entrusted with the responsibility of luring as many leaders as possible from various parties into the BJP in Andhra Pradesh. So, he is looking for vulnerable leaders in other parties who can be attracted towards the BJP.

Apparently, Sujana is maintaining friendly relations with the MPs and former MPs of all parties as part of his strategy to find out their interests and see whether they would be of any help to the BJP.

A couple of days ago, Sujana is learnt to have brokered the deal with former Anantapur MP and senior Telugu Desam Party leader J C Diwakar Reddy.

According to sources, Sujana arranged a meeting between Diwakar Reddy and BJP national working president J P Nadda at his residence over lunch.

Sujana introduced Diwakar Reddy to Nadda, explained his vast political experience and influence in Anantapur district.

All the three discussed the political situation in the state. Diwakar Reddy reportedly explained how there was a growing disgruntlement in the people over Jagan’s rule.

He also narrated how the Jagan government was indulging in witch-hunt of political rivals, including attacks on the TDP and BJP workers.

Later, Nadda reportedly invited Diwakar Reddy into the BJP and promised to take care of his business and political interests in AP.

During the same meeting, Sujana is learnt to have given the list of leaders from the TDP and Jana Sena who could be attracted into the BJP.

There would be more clarity on the defections during Nadda’s visit to Vijayawada on December 8.
