Thanks to the tremendous success of the Pushpa franchise, the director of this Pushpa world Sukumar has achieved great acclaim. However, there is a catch here.
The major majority of Pushpa credit went to Allu Arjun, who put up a phenomenal performance in the main lead role. He absolutely shoulder the film with his enigmatic performance, which is appreciated by one and all, and even win him the national award.
On the contrary, we have Rajamouli, who is a big branded Director himself and make sure that all of his films reflect his brand value. The same was seen in RRR, as we could clearly see the Rajamouli stamp alongside the main stars, Junior NTR and Ram Charan.
No, Sukumar will have to emulate something similar in order to put his stamp on his upcoming films. With Allu Arjun, walking away with the majority of the accolades for Pushpa, after having put up a mighty good performance, the onus is now on Sukumar to create a stamping of his own.
That being said, Sukumar was equally involved and decisive in the success of Pushpa. The way he commercialised the subject and cater to the Indian audience is a rare skill. He got the mass calculations, absolutely right, and the majority of his commercial presentations worked out.
What Sukumar will have to essentially do now is come up with another winning commercial film with Ram Charan, which will be his immediate next film. This intense action drama must not just elevate Ram Charan as an actor, but also Sukumar as a director.
It must be noted that Sukumar is already regarded as one of the gifted film makers in Telugu Cinema, and the stage is now set for Indian Cinema to witness his wider directorial skills outside of the Pushpa world.
