The shortage of doctors which is already a common issue is expected to become more severe in the new state of Telangana if reports are to be believed. Reports say that 70 per cent of doctors in the T-region originally hail from Seemandhra.

And they work in state-run hospitals in Hyderabad and they may be expected to leave to bolster facilities in residual AP state after bifurcation. With bifurcation now picking up momentum, the health department is reportedly in a dilemma.

They are not sure as to how it should fill key posts in the government hospitals of Hyderabad if they start segregating doctors from the two regions. It is said that the entire faculty of the neurosurgery and neurology department at Osmania Medical College hail completely from Seemandhra.

Meanwhile, two-thirds of the doctors hailing from Seemandhra are working here. Even Gandhi Medical College, Warangal reportedly has the second highest concentration of Seemandhra doctors just after Hyderabad.
