Bringing the curtains down on much-awaited vehicle registration in the new State of Telangana, State Transport minister P Mahender Reddy said at the Secretariat on Wednesday that all new vehicles would be registered under the ‘TS’ code contrary to widely publicized ‘TG’ code. The new ‘TS’ code comes into force from June 12, Today.
Dropping a bomb on existing vehicles in Telangana with the AP code, he said they would have to be changed within four months and fresh numbers would be allotted to the old vehicles. When asked about vehicle owners who had spent thousands, sometimes lakhs of rupees, to get fancy numbers as registration numbers, the minister shunned the question and said that nothing had been decided and the department would co me out with fresh regulations.
