Priya Bharati High School in Kothapet hanged an advertisement hoarding outside it premises where it shows the ranks of toppers in the nursery, UKG and LKG. The picture has not only gone viral on the internet but also enraged netizens.
The banner had a huge list of kids and their photos, mentioning who topped their classes. On the one hand, we keep hearing cases on how students commit suicides out of societal and parents pressure in term of education and on the other hand, there are schools like this which only focus on ranks rather than knowledge gained.
Having a high IQ, writing and reading skills are supposedly not sufficient for today’s education system and it is a disgrace to the city as well as the whole Indian education system on how stressed are we making kids today. They are just toddlers to be precise but the school has only managed to give a pressure-filled life, demanding excellence in the form of an external reward: MARKS.
