How Much Is Nag Ashwin Taking For ‘Kalki 2898 AD’?

Posted : April 26, 2024 at 10:16 pm IST by ManaTeluguMovies

Nag Ashwin has established himself as a force to be reckoned with in Tollywood. Despite having only two films to his credit, both “Yevade Subramanyam” and “Mahanati,” his unique storytelling and masterful direction have garnered him immense praise and commercial success. These critically acclaimed projects, produced under the banners of Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema helmed by Ashwini Dutt and his daughters Swapna & Priyanka, have solidified Ashwin’s reputation as a director with exceptional talent and vision.

Ashwin’s trajectory continues its upward climb with his current project, the epic science-fiction film “Kalki 2898 AD.” This ambitious venture, starring Prabhas in the lead role, promises to be one of the biggest cinematic undertakings in Indian history. Mounted on a colossal budget exceeding ₹500 crore, the film is being produced by Ashwini Dutt and his daughters, marking their unwavering trust in Ashwin’s capabilities. The narrative is so grand that it will be divided into two parts, with the first installment slated for release in the coming months.

Interestingly, Ashwin has opted to forego a traditional director’s salary for “Kalki 2898 AD.” Instead, he has a profit-sharing agreement with the producers. This decision signifies his commitment to the project’s success and his confidence in its potential to achieve box office dominance. Reports suggest that if the film lives up to its expectations and delivers the massive profits anticipated, Ashwin’s share could reach a staggering ₹50 crore, potentially placing him among the highest-paid directors in India, following the footsteps of the legendary S.S. Rajamouli.

Ashwin’s decision to continue working under his wife Priyanka Dutt’s and father-in-law Ashwini Dutt’s production house despite lucrative offers from other banners speaks volumes about his loyalty and dedication. It appears he has embraced the responsibility of elevating the already prestigious Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema to even greater heights. With his exceptional talent and unwavering dedication, Nag Ashwin is poised to become a defining figure in Tollywood for the years to come. The massive scale and immense buzz surrounding “Kalki 2898 AD” serve as a testament to his ambition and potential to revolutionize Indian cinema.

Kamal Explains Why He Refused ‘Gentleman’ & Opted For ‘Indian’!

Posted : April 23, 2024 at 6:47 pm IST by ManaTeluguMovies

Universal hero Kamal Haasan needs no introduction. He is arguably the best actor the country has produced and he is a man of many talents. As we know, he is currently doing ‘Indian 2’ which is a sequel to ‘Indian’ which came in the 90s. It was the first collaboration of top director Shankar and Kamal Haasan. The movie was a blockbuster and the strong social message hit the right chord with the audience.

Shankar is known for his commercially grand movies which deal with serious issues in society. Right from his first movie ‘Gentleman’, he followed the same path. Though ‘Gentleman’ was a huge success, Kamal said in an old interview that he rejected it when Shankar approached him that story. As we know, ‘Gentleman’ is a movie that deals with a Brahmin boy becoming a vigilante and stealing from the rich in order to build an education institute as his friend commits suicide for not getting high marks in the education system whereas others get a seat due to reservation.

Kamal said, “If I have differences of opinion and ideologies with films, I have said I can’t do it and have steered away from projects. For example, initially, Shankar’s Gentleman had a different story. It was about the militancy of a Brahmin boy. I said I can’t do this and refused. I also asked him to change the story even if he was going to do it. And I realized that’s what they had done.”

When asked about okaying ‘Indian’ with the same director, he said, “As far as Indian goes, it dealt with problems I faced in my real life. You can’t do a film without having a connection with its ideology. It will then become extremely difficult to get up early at 4 AM and go for shooting without eating. You can’t do all that for a film that you don’t like. Though I had a few issues with the film, I was sure that people would accept it. I found the tone of fascism was a bit high in the film. Other than that, I like the film. The film is a dream of many citizens–a hope that kind of justice is possible.”

‘Indian 2’ has been in the making for a long time and it is expected to hit the screens in June 2024.
