On Friday, a high profile delegation from the Chinese multinational giant, Dalian Wanda, landed at the unused Donakonda airbase in Prakasam district and went on an inspection to chalk out the possibilities to invest about $3 billion near the capital region. The Chinese delegation was accompanied by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) officials.
Dalian Wanda primarily envinces interest in the commercial property, luxury hotels, culture and tourism and retail sectors and the delegation examined the possibilities of setting up a world-class industrial park in Prakasam district and other ventures in Amaravati. The delegation thoroughly inspected the state’s natural resources and the extended coastline, a key gateway for industrial flourishing.
After an overall aerial survey, the delegation inspected about 8,000 acres in and around Donakonda. Already, the AP Government identified upto 20,000 acres in Donakonda for an industrial city worth Rs 5,000 crore and to be build on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis. Apart from Donakanda, the delegation will also cover Prakasam, Nellore and Chittoor and Hanuman Junction.
During the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent China visit, the Dalian Wanda officials promised to invest huge in India and already scouted for suitable lands in five northern cities but were not satisfied. Sensing an opportunity, the AP CM Chandrababu Naidu quickly ordered his team to roll out a red carpet to the Dalian Wanda officials, including offering them a ride in the government’s helicopter.
