On the eve of India’s 500th Test, BCCI came up with a poll asking fans to vote their Dream Test XI. On the 5th day of the Test Match, the much awaited results were announced and the list has several surprises.
1 A Total of 7 players got a higher percentage of votes than Cricket God Sachin Tendulkar. He managed only 73 percent of votes.
2 The inclusion of Yuvraj Singh as the 12th man came as a complete shocker as he was never considered a reliable Test player.
3 One of most successful Test skippers, Sourav Ganguly couldn’t find a place
4 Arguably the best player of the current generation, Virat Kohli also failed to grab a spot in the dream team.
5 Dhoni, who doesn’t have a praiseworthy record in Tests, surprisingly got more votes, 90, than Sehwag 86, Sachin 73, Sunil Gavaskar 68 and Laxman 58.
6 Sunil Gavaskar, the first player in the history of the game to score 10,000 Test runs, was awarded only 68 percent of votes.
Predictably, Rahul Dravid, popularly called ‘The Wall’ for his dogged resistance, received most number of votes (96 percent).
