Velugu Bus met with an accident in Anantapur on Wednesday morning. Velugu Bus lost balance on Penukonda, Madakasira route and toppled at the turning resulting in horrific accident. In the accident 8 people were killed and another 20 severely injured.

The seriousness of the accident means death toll may increase even further. There are around 50 passengers in the bus. Bus bearing AP 28 Z 1053 hit the wall and fell down in a 60 ft deep pit. Police and officials reached the accident spot the moment they received the information on accident. Injured were shifted to Anantapur Govt hospital for treatment.

Two engineering students, a constable and two women were among the dead. More details are awaited about the injured and the dead. AP CM Chandra Babu Naidu expressed shock at the accident. He directed collector and officials to step up relief activities.

AP Minister Sidda Raghava Rao, Palle Raghunadha Reddy, Paritala Suneetha rushed to the accident spot. Siddha promised to take steps so that these accidents will not occur in future.
