Varalaxmi Says That A Channel Owner Wanted To Book A Room!

Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, a prominent South Indian actress, bravely spoke out about her own experience with sexual harassment during the #MeToo movement in 2018. One of the first celebrities from the industry to do so, she courageously accused a media channel owner of inappropriate behavior.

In a recent YouTube interview, Varalaxmi shared the details of the incident. A powerful media owner visited her residence to discuss a potential project. Their conversation concluded smoothly, and he inquired about their next meeting. When she questioned the necessity of another meeting, he reportedly suggested booking a room, implying ulterior motives.

Appalled by this suggestion, Varalaxmi, through her NGO ‘Save Shakti,’ immediately filed a police complaint against the individual. She expressed deep disturbance over the incident, acknowledging that such experiences, unfortunately, were not uncommon throughout her career and often led to losing out on projects.

Despite facing these challenges, Varalaxmi persevered and remains a leading actress in both Telugu and Tamil cinema. Her courage in speaking out against her harasser and advocating for women’s safety serves as an inspiration to many.
