Tollywood’s Epic Pongal Clash of 2025

The upcoming Sankranti festival in 2025 is poised to witness an intense battle among Tollywood’s leading stars as multiple highly anticipated films are scheduled for release during the festive season. The competition is expected to be particularly fierce given the involvement of several big-budget productions.

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film, “Vishwambhara,” directed by Vashishtha, has already been confirmed for a Pongal release. Adding to the excitement, senior hero Venky’s “Sankranti,” directed by Anil Ravipudi, has also announced its Pongal release. Further intensifying the competition, Balayya’s film under the direction of Bobby, initially planned for a December 20 release, has now been pushed back to Sankranti to avoid a solo release due to its massive budget.

Sitara Entertainments, the production house behind Balayya’s film, also has another major project with Ravi Teja lined up for the same period. However, to avoid direct competition with Balayya’s film, Sitara has decided to postpone Ravi Teja’s movie to the summer.

The Pongal race is further heating up with the addition of Akkineni Nagarjuna’s “Bangarraju-3” and Sandeep Kishan’s “Majaka.” While the producers have confirmed Balayya’s film for a January 12 release, a direct clash with Chiranjeevi’s “Vishwambhara” seems inevitable.

The upcoming Sankranti festival promises to be a blockbuster event for Tollywood, with some of its biggest stars vying for box office success. The clash between Chiranjeevi and Balayya, following the remarkable success of their previous films “Veerasimha Reddy” and “Waltair Veerayya” during the 2023 Pongal, is expected to be a particular highlight of the festive season.

Despite the high ticket prices, theaters are packed, and the film’s popularity shows no signs of waning. In the beginning of the film, Ajay, the policeman, inquires about both Daya and Yeti, while Prakash Raj, who knows the story of Devara, reveals everything except their fate. The suspense surrounding the ownership of the ocean’s treasure cages persists.

Another intriguing aspect is the fate of the characters who attacked Devara. During the interval, Devara eliminates all of them, and the villagers later discover their bodies. However, a twist arises as it becomes clear that the dead bodies at the bottom of the ocean do not belong to the attackers. This raises questions about Devara’s actions and the true identity of the deceased.

The character of Varani, Devara’s son, is introduced as a coward. Director Koratala Siva fails to provide any clues about Varani’s role in uncovering the secret behind his father’s death. Additionally, the backgrounds of Bhaira’s son, Devara’s younger sister, Srikanth, and Shine Tom Chacko’s injury remain unexplored. These unanswered questions create a sense of anticipation for “Devara 2.”

Even Janhvi Kapoor, who plays a supporting role, admits that her screen time is limited in the first part. She hints at a more prominent role in the sequel. Tarak, in an interview, expressed surprise at Janhvi’s ability to deliver two pages of dialogue, suggesting that such scenes were not included in “Devara 1.” Rumors have circulated about Bobby Deol’s involvement in the film, leading to speculation that he might be one of the Yeti.

The mystery surrounding Devara’s death and the unanswered questions from the first part create a high level of anticipation for “Devara 2.” Koratala Siva’s storytelling skills, as demonstrated in “Baahubali 2,” suggest that he will skillfully weave a complex narrative and reveal the answers in the sequel. While the release date remains unknown, the excitement for “Devara 2” is palpable.
