In what is being seen rubbing salt into the wounds, Union Home Minister Amit Shah readily gave appointment to TDP MP Gorantla Madhav on the Pattabhi issue. Madhav sought an appointment and got one immediately. He met Amit Shan and apprised him of the abusive language that the TDP has used against constitutional heads like YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He demanded action against the TDP.

The felicity with which the YSRCP could get an appointment with Amit Shah contrasts with TDP’s inability to get an appointment even after a two-day wait. This shows both bad planning on the part of the TDP think-tanks and also their dipping clout.

More importantly, YSRCP Rajya Sabha MP Vijaysai Reddy secured an appointment with the chief election commissioner and demanded that the TDP’s recognition be cancelled as it has used abusive language against a person holding the position of constitutional head. He said the TDP has violated the code and should be derecognized as a political party.

This shows the clout that the YSRCP enjoys in Delhi because of its strength in Rajya Sabha. The BJP needs YSRCP to get its bills passed. The TDP does not have the numerical superiority in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.
