After making a few attempts as a heroine in the Telugu film industry, Mega daughter Niharika Konidela has turned into a producer and made ‘Committee Kurrollu’. New director Yadhu Vamsi made this film and the impressive promotional content attracted the audience as well. Let us dive into the review straightaway to find out about the movie.

Story:

A group of friends grew up together without any differences between them in a village called Purushottamapally located in the Godavari district. They enjoy life happily even during their teens and 20s as well. One of them failed to get a seat at the university despite getting a good rank in EAMCET. He doesn’t have reservation which turns out to be the main reason. This leads to a debate between friends which soon turns into a big argument. The youngsters who grew up happily till then end up having differences due to their caste. They separate into two groups and the fight becomes worse during the time of their village jathara. What happens after that? How did their lives take a turn? Will they reunite again? Answers to these questions form the rest of the story.

Analysis:

There is something magical about childhood. We don’t realize it then but they are the sweetest, most innocent and happiest moments in our lives. We get a smile on our faces whenever we think about those days. ‘Committed Kurrollu’ is one such film that will take us down memory lane. Along with the sweet memories, it makes you remember the serious issues and experiences they faced. The pure friendships and emotions are the biggest selling points of this movie. The lovely conversations, naughty things, silly fights and others make a very good cinema. It is proven by films like ‘Happy Days’ earlier. ‘Committee Kurrollu’ follows the same route.

But it is not just about their college life but also sheds light on the social and political conditions in the village. The director takes back 20 years and shows the village atmosphere and all the light-hearted things in a pleasant manner. At a point, the story lacked strength and the lag in the proceedings might trouble the audience but it is an engaging movie that makes the audience leave the theatre with a satisfying experience. The movie starts with a song and everything showcased in the song looks routine and a bit dramatic as well. But we feel that there is a lot of honesty in the story as the movie progresses forward. The lovely performances and well-written characters paired with good entertainment makes ‘Committee Kurrollu’ a lovable film.

Everyone did their role perfectly and they have different characteristics to it. Even roles that have one or two dialogues leave a mark. Though there is a main lead, every artist delivers an exceptional performance. The director designed the characters of Surya, Willaim and Subbu in a fantastic manner. They are quite entertaining despite being quite simple. The pleasant love tracks and fun portions between friends in ‘Committee Kurrollu’ make the film go smoothly. The twist that makes the story take a serious route is also quite good.

The second half lacks special moments and the election episodes fail to evoke the required emotion. But the movie doesn’t bore you at any point. Had ‘Committee Kurrollu’ been tighter in the latter half, it would have ended up as a special film. Despite a few flaws, it is a definite one-time watch without any problem.

Performances:

Apart from Saikumar, Goparaju Ramana and a few others, there are not many familiar names in ‘Committee Kurrollu’. But the fresh cast proved everyone wrong by delivering a very good performance. Even the actors who did small roles made their mark. Sandeep Saroj as Siva, Trinadh Varma as Subbu, Yashwanth Pendyala as Surya, Eeshwar as Willaim and others have delivered fantastic performances. Trinadh stands out among them and famous YouTuber Prasad Behara as Peddodu too arrests you with his acting. He can go places if used properly. Saikumar and Goparaju Ramana did their roles very well. Kishore makes you emotional and the female leads did great too. Senior actress Sri Lakshmi was amazing in the role of Idly Bamma. The rest of the cast were superb too.

Technicians:

The technicians delivered a fantastic job in this film. Everyone gave their heart to this movie and it can be seen in the output. Anudeep Dev made a strong impact with his music. People who watched the film will talk about the music as the background score and feel-good music is quite impressive. The half an hour before the interval had fantastic music. The sound gets intense as the movie turns serious in the film. The cinematography is very good with a lot of natural lighting. The beauty of the Godavari region is well captured. They enhance the movie to another level. The production values are adequate. Niharika should be appreciated for believing in this script. Writer-director Yadhu Vamsi showed his taste as a writer. He might have readied this script based on true experiences and it is why the movie looks very natural and relatable. He dealt with comedy and drama quite well. He should have taken more care in the second half. Had he ran the film in an unpredictable way and decreased the melodrama, the film would have reached another level.

Verdict: ‘Committee Kurrollu’ – They Are A Big Special!
