Telangana and Andhra Pradesh State governments have got another big problem as the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal on river Krishna waters rejected the Telangana and AP’s plea for the redistribution of Krishna water between four states- Karnataka, Maharastra, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

After the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, the AP and T states have been demanding fresh allocation of Krishna water between four states as Telangana claimed it was denied justice in water allocations in united AP and the AP complained the upper riparian states were utilizing excess water above the allocations.After the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana also brought to the notice of the tribunal that Telangana was deprived of its due share of water as Andhra Pradesh has got huge allocations in the undivided AP, resulting three districts under Krishna delta faced acute water crisis.

The TS and AP government made strong arguments on its demands but the tribunal did not heed the request. Brijesh said the fresh water allocations would be made between TS and AP only and not four states. Shocked over the tribunal verdict, Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao constituted a Cabinet Sub Committee headed by Irrigation minister to challenge the tribunal judgement. While AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu asked Irrigation minister D Uma Maheswara Rao to seek legal opinion to protect state interests. The two states will put their final arguments on December 14 before the tribunal.
