When India was fighting the deadly Covid crisis, a barbaric incident that questions humanity was reported, where a male nurse had reportedly raped a Covid-19 patient at a state-run hospital.
The horrific incident reportedly took place in Bhopal city of Madhya Pradesh. A male nurse at the state-run hospital raped the Covid-19 patient. The victim passed away within 24 hours of the attack.
What’s even more shocking is that the incident is over one month old, but made it to the headlines recently. Her family members were not even informed of the sad incident.
A 43-year-old woman, a survivor of the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy was admitted to the Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre on the 6th of April with Covid-19 symptoms.
After the woman was placed in the Isolation ward, a male nurse raped her. With her health condition worsening, the victim was kept on ventilator support. Her medical reports confirmed the sexual assault. She died on the same evening.
In a statement, DIG Bhopal (Urban) said, the victim complained to the hospital authorities about the incident on April 6, and based on the complaint, a police case was filed and the accused is in jail.
Giving a reason on why the issue was not disclosed to the public, the cops said, the victim asked them to see that her identity is not revealed and that is why the case didn’t come out.
It has been widely reported that, in the investigation, the cops found out that the accused identified as Santosh Ahirwar, sexually assaulted a 24-year-old woman nurse reportedly.
