June 2 marks the completion of four years for the two Telugu states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

For Telangana, it is a historic occasion as the newest state of the country was formed after prolonged struggle for over four decades. But for Andhra Pradesh, it is a day of disappointment.

Naturally, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government headed by K Chandrasekhar Rao has called for week-long celebrations from June 2.

The entire Hyderabad is now glittering with illumination of buildings and decorations and a festive atmosphere is prevailing everywhere in the other parts of the state.

With just 10 months left for assembly elections, the chief minister has a lot of achievements to boast about.

He has begun a publicity blitzkrieg, flooding the media houses with loads of advertisements and other publicity material, besides planting stories on his government’s programmes and schemes like Rythu Bandhu, 24X7 free power to farmers, group insurance to crops, Mission Kakatiya, Mission Bhagiratha, 2BHK housing scheme etc.

On the other hand, Naidu has nothing much to claim. Both his pet projects Amaravati and Polavaram are going on a slow pace and there is no way they could be completed by elections.

Though he, too, is claiming to have launched several welfare schemes, he is not able to draw any mileage out of them and his failure to get special category status from the centre is dominating the positive factors, if any, for his government.

As a result, Naidu is now going into people with crying face, unlike the jubilant face of KCR.

He is trying overcome the anti-establishment wave by blaming it on the Centre for not coming to the rescue of the state and depriving it of the benefits due to it under AP bifurcation act.

Contrary to the celebrations in Telangana, Naidu is once again going into people asking them to observe “Nava Nirmana Deeksha” – taking a pledge to make a fresh beginning to rebuild AP into a prosperous state.
