After Telangana’s Notice, Diljit Demands Reel Life Responsibility!
Diljit Dosanjh, much like a firecracker, has never been one to shy away from speaking his mind. Recently, during a show in Lucknow, he unleashed a storm of words in response to criticism about allegedly promoting alcohol in his songs. The Punjabi star took aim at those calling for censorship of alcohol related tracks, suggesting that if that’s the case, the government should start censoring alcohol scenes in films too. After all, if we’re going down the road of censorship, let’s not stop at music!
“There’s an anchor I’d like to talk about. He challenged me to create a hit song without alcohol references. For your information, Born To Shine, Kinni Kinni, GOAT, Naina, and Lover are far bigger hits than Patiala Peg,” Diljit said, his voice carrying the weight of success. “My work is not cheap; my films have even won National Film Awards!” The singer also made it clear that while adding disclaimers about alcohol in concerts may seem like an easy fix, it would make him appear as if he’s targeting someone a stance he was unwilling to take.
His comments followed a notice from the Telangana government, urging him not to perform songs that promote alcohol, drugs, or violence during his show in Hyderabad. Not one to back down, Diljit turned up the heat during his Ahmedabad performance, humorously suggesting that he would stop singing alcohol-related songs only when the government issues a nationwide ban on the substance. “Until then, I’ll keep rocking my songs the way I do,” he added with a smile, keeping the mood light despite the tension.
As Diljit gears up for his Dil Luminati India tour, he’s clearly ready to face any challenge that comes his way onstage or off. With a lineup of performances across the country, it seems Diljit’s tour isn’t the only thing setting fire to the stage. His bold stance on artistic freedom and social responsibility is lighting up the conversation too. And who knows? Maybe his next hit will come with a catchy disclaimer just to keep things interesting!
