Janani Rao is one of the energetic and loyal women delivery partners of Swiggy in Hyderabad. Her work with the deliveries begins at 11.00 am and ends at 3.30 pm. She finishes deliveries of nearly 8 per day in tedious traffic and roads of Hyderabad.

Janani said that her work is physically exhausting and tiring. During summers, the work becomes more unmanageable. Currently, the rains may delay food deliveries and it is often a hassle making customers understand that weather makes their food delay. “But such problems are a part of every other job, right?” said the 21-year-old Janani.

Janani is also a poet, has a passion for freelance writing. She is a Psychology and Mass Communication graduate. She took up the job of Swiggy delivery partner as one of the few women food delivery agents in the city. She says she is enjoying her job with Swiggy and has no issues. She told that since her parents are planning to buy a house, she is looking for ways to contribute money as well. Hence, chosen Swiggy.

She said she is also amazed to know that the company has a special app for women employees’ security. The company will allow women’s deliveries only up to 6 pm, keeping in mind the security terms. She shared that she faced quite a few strange questions like why do you deliver food in spite of being educated.

Her main work areas are Banjara hills, Somajiguda and Gachibowli. In the midst of woes like routing algorithm, shelter problems for rain and sun, fast delivery rules and safety check, we salute Janani for her honest efforts in one of the rare fields take up by women.
