Story
Gani (Rana) is a selfish young guy who works in Malaysia. On the other hand, Krishnaveni (Genelia) who is in love with Kishore (Harshavardhan Rane) elopes from home after her father Naidu (Nasser) disagree her love. However, Kishore doesn’t turn up at the end and Selfish Gani who hopes to make money surrenders her to Naidu. After seeing Krishnaveni’s family, Gani realizes she is going into the wrong hands and takes her back to Malaysia. Friendship between Gani and Krishnaveni develops and the duo gets close to each other. Now, Kishore walks into her life again and the triangle love story unfolds. How will Naidu react? How does Gani handle Kishore with his ways who is trying to win her again and will Gani win his love forms the crux!!!
Performances
Rana has done dances, fights and tried out all the commercial elements in the movie. But the choreographers could have done better job for Rana since the actor is quite tall, not all the steps suited him. He looked good and his East Godavari slang was noticeable. The actor needs to work more on his expressions in emotional scenes.
Genelia is gorgeous and she has done a good job with in the limits as the actress hasn’t had much to perform.
Harshavardhan Rane is good, Jogi brothers entertained in brief roles, Ali is perfect, Nasser is wasted, Subba Raju, Brahmanandam, Pragathi, Ahuti Prasad et al were adequate
Technical Analysis
Cinematography is first-class and the movie looked rich and colorful. Chakri’s music is mediocre and the background score is so-so. Dialogues were apt and punchy. Prakash Tholeti’s direction is not upto the mark. Editing could have been better and the screenplay is bad. VFX work is poor. Production Values of United Movies are okay.
Analysis
Debutant Prakash Tholeti seems to be highly influenced by his director Sukumar in terms of etching the characterizations of the lead stars but he scored negative points for the supporting characters roles like Nasser, Subba Raju, Brahmanandam. The film lacked clarity and the screenplay is bad. The director lost grip in the story in the second half. The first half of the film was written well and executed especially the romantic scenes between the lead pair had come out well, but when it comes to the second half, Naa Ishtam gets highly boring with unnecessary long fights, misplaced songs and lack in conviction. The story is outdated and routine and lacks freshness and so is the screenplay in the second-half as the logic has gone for a toss. Too many songs in the second half had affected the movie’s flow in the latter half and the climax is highly dragged.
Final Verdict
Good First half but a let down second half!!!
