Pushpa: The Rise’s resounding success has paved the way for its highly anticipated sequel, Pushpa 2: The Rule. Even before its official release, the film has generated immense buzz and anticipation among audiences worldwide.
The pre-release business for Pushpa 2 has been nothing short of extraordinary. While the production house, Mythri Movie Makers, has yet to officially confirm the figures, industry insiders estimate the theatrical rights to be valued at approximately Rs. 640 crores. This unprecedented amount showcases the immense confidence and expectations surrounding the film.
Regional Distribution: The rights for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the film’s home markets, are priced at a staggering Rs. 220 crores. In Northern India, Pushpa 2 is expected to replicate the success of blockbusters like KGF: Chapter 2 and Baahubali 2, with estimated rights of Rs. 200 crores. Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu have rights valued at Rs. 30 crores, Rs. 20 crores, and Rs. 50 crores, respectively.
Overseas Market: The film’s overseas rights are valued at Rs. 120 crores, further solidifying its global appeal.
Non-Theatrical Deals
Beyond theatrical rights, Pushpa 2 has secured significant non-theatrical deals. Netflix has acquired the streaming rights for a whopping Rs. 275 crores, demonstrating the platform’s confidence in the film’s potential. Additionally, the music rights have been sold for Rs. 65 crores, and the satellite rights for Rs. 85 crores.
With a combined pre-release value of Rs. 1,065 crores, Pushpa 2 has set a new benchmark for Telugu cinema. To be considered profitable, the film needs to gross at least Rs. 1,300 crores at the box office. However, given the immense anticipation and pre-release hype, distributors are hopeful that it might even surpass Rs. 1,500 crores.
Pushpa 2 is poised to be a major cinematic event, with its pre-release business setting new records. Directed by Sukumar and featuring the return of Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, the film is expected to captivate audiences worldwide when it hits theaters on December 5th or 6th, 2024.
