The Donald Trump government has reportedly banned passengers from eight Middle Eastern and North African countries from bringing any type of electronic gadget except phones into their country. This temporary ban came into effect from this Tuesday.
The electronic devices are not allowed in carry-on luggage and are permitted into check in with special permission. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has not given any specific reason for this ban. US media reported the ban was sparked by intelligence gathered overseas.
Speaking to the Associated Press, a US security official reportedly said that the ban is applicable to countries such as Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. The total number of nations banned from carrying electronic goods can go up in following days.
