Atlee’s Next Directorial: A Shift from Tollywood to Bollywood?

Riding high on the success of his recent action film “Jawan,” featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Tamil director Atlee finds himself at the forefront of Indian cinema. “Jawan” not only smashed box office records but also presented Khan in a powerful mass avatar, resonating particularly well with North Indian audiences. Previously known for delivering blockbusters with Tamil superstar Vijay, Atlee was reportedly set to collaborate with another Tollywood A-lister, Allu Arjun. This project garnered significant anticipation; however, recent developments suggest a change in course.

Sources close to the production reveal that the Allu Arjun collaboration has been shelved, allegedly due to budgetary disagreements. Reports indicate that Geetha Arts, the production house owned by Allu Arjun’s father, was hesitant to meet Atlee’s high remuneration demands. Undeterred by this setback, Atlee reportedly set his sights on a new venture and a new leading man: Bollywood megastar Salman Khan. News reports suggest that Atlee pitched a new concept to Khan, who was immediately receptive to the idea. With Khan currently committed to another project under director AR Murugadoss, filming for the Atlee-Khan project is expected to commence next year.
