Rajendra Prasad Reveals Heartbreaking Struggle: Suicide Thoughts and Survival

Posted : November 30, 2024 at 1:52 pm IST by ManaTeluguMovies

Rajendra Prasad’s early career felt like a stormy sea, with no shore in sight. The actor recently opened up about the severe struggles he faced in his youth, revealing how the lack of opportunities pushed him to the brink of despair. During a candid podcast interview, Rajendra Prasad shared that there was a time when he even contemplated suicide, feeling completely hopeless after months without work. His life seemed to be slipping away in silence, as he faced hardships that led him to survive without a proper meal for days on end.

Hailing from a strict family, Rajendra Prasad’s decision to pursue a career in films after completing engineering was met with resistance, especially from his father, a school teacher. His father’s words still echo in his mind: “If you fail, don’t come home.” With that heavy burden, he ventured to Madras, enrolled in the Film Institute, and even earned a gold medal, but the doors to acting never opened. After returning home in defeat, he found no solace, only more frustration and feelings of failure. It was during these dark moments that he seriously considered ending his life.

However, fate had other plans. One fateful visit to producer Pundarikakshayya’s office changed everything. Amid a heated dispute, the producer noticed Rajendra Prasad, who was hanging on by a thread, and took him to the dubbing theater. After dubbing for a scene, Pundarikakshayya saw potential in him and encouraged him to keep going. The kindness didn’t stop there he even invited Rajendra Prasad to his home, gave him a hearty meal, and reminded him to stay strong. This moment marked the beginning of a new chapter in Rajendra’s life, where dubbing became his way to survive and eventually thrive.

From those humble beginnings, Rajendra Prasad built a name for himself in the Telugu film industry, first as a dubbing artist, and later as a hero in films. Now, looking back, he smiles at how far he’s come though he might joke that the only thing he regrets about that “suicide plan” is that he missed out on some really good food along the way.
